15 листопада 2011 р. у приміщенні Чернівецької обласної універсальної наукової бібліотеки імені М.Івасюка відбулася презентація “Довідника міжетнічної толерантності” – навчального посібника, виданого спільними зусиллями екcпертів Буковинського політологічного центру та НДІ європейської інтеграції та регіональних досліджень Чернівецького національного університету імені Юрія Федьковича в рамках проекту “Моніторинг процесу формування збалансованих етнонаціональних відносин у Чернівецькій області”, що здійснювався за підтримки Міжнародного фонду “Відродження”.

Директор НДІ Європейської інтеграції та регіональних досліджень проф. Анатолій Круглашов взяв участь у міжнародній конференції «На руїнах Імперії … На шляху до нового політичного, соціально-економічного та міжнародного порядку в регіоні Центральної та Східної Європи», яка пройшла 26-27 жовтня 2011 р. в Університеті Лодзя (Польща).Там він виступив на пленарному засіданні, присвяченому стану і розвитку політичної науки в Центральній та Східній Європи на прикладі Литви, Польщі, Росії та Україні.

ЗУСТРІЧ ІЗ ЗОЛТАНОМ САЛАЇ

13 жовтня 2011 р. у Блакитній залі Чернівецького національного університету імені Юрія Федьковича відбулася лекція Голови відділу преси та інформації Представництва ЄС в Україні Золтана Салайя на тему «Поточний стан відносин України та ЄС». Захід організовано в рамках проекту Представництва ЄС в Україні «Підтримка діяльності Інформаційних центрів ЄС в Україні» за підтримки Інформаційного центру ЄС, що діє при Науковій бібліотеці університету з жовтня 2007 року. Проводячи презентацію в ЧНУ, Представництво ЄС в Україні прагне залучити молодь регіону до діалогу щодо перспектив відносин Україна-ЄС та обміну думками про євроінтеграційні прагнення України.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF BELARUSIAN STUDIES

On September 23-25, 2011 the first International Congress of Belarusian Studies was held in Kaunas (Lithuania), which was attended by over 200 scientists from 14 countries. The work of the seven sections of the Congress brought together historians, experts in Political and Social Sciences and representatives of other disciplines. In addition, Congress program included public discussions on the topics «Lobbying Belarusian interests abroad», «Belarus and Eastern Partnership», «Science and Education» as well as the presentation of Belarusian research and publishing projects.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON THE UKRAINIAN-ROMANIAN RELATIONS

On September 17th, 2011 an expert roundtable discussion on the topic “Ukrainian-Romanian relations: achievements, problems and prospects” was held at the Department of History, Political Science and International Relations of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. The event was organized by Black Sea Peacekeeping Network, Center for Middle East Studies, Foundation “Public Resources and Initiatives” and the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

Tolerance: harmony in diversity

During September 2010 – June 2011 the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies acted as a partner of Bukovinian Political Studies Center in the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region», supported by International Renaissance Foundation.

The project was aimed to promoting a balanced inter-ethnic relations by improving ethnic policy at the regional level, improving the efficiency of implementation of relevant regional programs, reducing the spread of ethnic stereotypes and increasing the tolerance culture of public servants, local government officials and journalists of regional media.

TRAINING SEMINAR FOR DEPUTIES

On July 8th, 2011 a training seminar on inter-ethnic tolerance for members of Chernivtsi city and three district councils was conducted. It was organized by Bukovinian Political Studies Center and the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies within the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region», which was supported by International Renaissance Foundation.

TO AVOID STEREOTYPES

On June 30-th, 2011 at the initiative of Bukovinian Political Studies Center a training seminar on the issues of ethnic tolerance for the staff of regional and local media was conducted. The seminar was organized within the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region» which is undertaken jointly with the Research Institute for European Integration and Regional Studies of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and funded by the International Renaissance Foundation.

BUKOVYNIAN DIALOGUE – 2011

On May 11, 2011 a roundtable discussion “Bukovynian Dialogue – 2011” was held in the Blue Hall of the Chernivtsi National University. During the discussion the experts and politicians exchanged views about cultural factors that had a positive impact on the Bukovyna’s development as the European region, and discussed a wide range of Ukrainian-Romanian relations. The roundtable was organized by Chernivsti Regional State Administration, the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Chernivtsi oblast, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and Research Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies.

STUDENTS AND POSTGRADUATES DISCUSSED THE STATE OF POLITICAL SCIENCE DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

The first international scientific conference for students and postgraduates “Political Science Development: European Practice and National Perspectives” was held on March 3rd, 2011 at the Department of History, Political Science and International Relations of Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University. One of the conference organizers was the Research Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: WINTER SCHOOL 2015 – DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

Dear young academics and researchers from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine,

we would like to present to you the Winter School in European Integration, which is carried out by the Europa-Institut of the Saarland University with financial support from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). It will take place at the Europa-Institut in Saarbrücken from January 11 – 20, 2015. The Winter School’s theme is “Democracy and Human Rights in the European Union”. A broad variety of lectures, taught by academics and practitioners, will help the participants to systematically explore the chances and limits of European integration in promoting democracy and protecting human rights.
