On September 23-25, 2011 the first International Congress of Belarusian Studies was held in Kaunas (Lithuania), which was attended by over 200 scientists from 14 countries. The work of the seven sections of the Congress brought together historians, experts in Political and Social Sciences and representatives of other disciplines. In addition, Congress program included public discussions on the topics «Lobbying Belarusian interests abroad», «Belarus and Eastern Partnership», «Science and Education» as well as the presentation of Belarusian research and publishing projects.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF BELARUSIAN STUDIES
ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION ON THE UKRAINIAN-ROMANIAN RELATIONS

On September 17th, 2011 an expert roundtable discussion on the topic “Ukrainian-Romanian relations: achievements, problems and prospects” was held at the Department of History, Political Science and International Relations of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. The event was organized by Black Sea Peacekeeping Network, Center for Middle East Studies, Foundation “Public Resources and Initiatives” and the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
Tolerance: harmony in diversity

During September 2010 – June 2011 the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies acted as a partner of Bukovinian Political Studies Center in the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region», supported by International Renaissance Foundation.
The project was aimed to promoting a balanced inter-ethnic relations by improving ethnic policy at the regional level, improving the efficiency of implementation of relevant regional programs, reducing the spread of ethnic stereotypes and increasing the tolerance culture of public servants, local government officials and journalists of regional media.
TRAINING SEMINAR FOR DEPUTIES

On July 8th, 2011 a training seminar on inter-ethnic tolerance for members of Chernivtsi city and three district councils was conducted. It was organized by Bukovinian Political Studies Center and the Institute of European Integration and Regional Studies within the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region», which was supported by International Renaissance Foundation.
TO AVOID STEREOTYPES

On June 30-th, 2011 at the initiative of Bukovinian Political Studies Center a training seminar on the issues of ethnic tolerance for the staff of regional and local media was conducted. The seminar was organized within the project «Monitoring of the Balanced Etno-National Relations Formation Process in the Chernivtsi Region» which is undertaken jointly with the Research Institute for European Integration and Regional Studies of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and funded by the International Renaissance Foundation.
